Haley Willis is wearing black slacks and a black blazer. She has long dirty blonde hair.

Hello, I’m Haley Willis.

Co-Owner of Advantage Therapy Services

Professional Background

My specialty is speech pathology. I am passionate about treating communication, memory, and swallowing disorders. I work with all ages through an individualized and collaborative approach to therapy.

I am a Chico local and received my Master’s degree from Chico State University. Being both a Certified Dementia Care Specialist (CDCS) and a California Child Services (CCS) provider allows me to serve a variety of patients.

Some of my additional training includes Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImP), neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), and surface electromyography (sEMG). I also have experience treating medically complex patients with various etiologies and enjoy leading support groups for Traumatic Brain Injury and Aphasia.

Why am I in Private Practice?

I gained most of my experience working in skilled nursing facilities, inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, and outpatient settings. However, I always felt like something was missing. I wanted to see my patients for more extended periods, especially if they wanted to keep working.

I also wanted to step away from the dynamic of working for a corporation because I wanted to know my patients at a more personal level. As a result, we created Advantage Therapy Services!

It is my pleasure to have the opportunity to personalize each therapy session for my patients and provide a welcoming and caring experience for each patient that comes to our private practice.

Together, we will discover the most effective therapy solutions that are right for you. I’ll work with you to reach your goals and support your family in the process.

What am I doing when I’m not at work?

I spend most of my time caring for my daughter Savannah and spending time with my family. I also enjoy gardening and painting on occasion.

I graduated from California State University, Fresno, with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. I have expertise in treating neurologic, orthopedic, and chronic pain conditions through my experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Every day, I strive to continue learning about the most current, evidence-based research to identify the best ways to assist my patients in their healing process. As a result, I have multiple certifications that allow me to offer my patients a wide array of services. I am certified in instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, Tai Chi for Arthritis, and am currently becoming a certified manual physical therapist.

Life changes drastically after an injury, and I am here to provide the most efficient, personalized, and compassionate care possible to get you moving again.

If you are motivated and ready for a change, it’s time to start your therapy journey.

Why am I a physical therapist?

I have always been interested in physical therapy because physical fitness has been a huge part of my life. I have participated in martial arts, recreational sports, weight lifting, and more.

My extensive knowledge of exercise allows me to adapt an individualized program to suit each patient’s needs through 1-on-1 treatment. This type of treatment means that you will never be passed around between therapists and aides during your sessions. Instead, I devote all my attention to you for your entire session, so you can improve your mobility, strength, and balance in the most efficient way possible.

What am I doing when I’m not at work?

I spend a lot of my time with family and exploring the outdoors. I also enjoy going to the gym and cooking.

Speech-Language Pathologist

Why am I in private practice?

I entered private practice for two main reasons: First, my deep respect for Haley and Rylan and my complete belief in their dream to create a community resource. Second, because I wanted to experience more autonomy in clinical decision-making. This means that I can work with my clients in a more compassionate setting and make strides toward improvement in diverse and creative ways.

I am so thrilled to show up for you in all the ways I can: as a therapist, a coach, and one of your biggest cheerleaders!

Professional Background

I have been a speech pathologist for over 11 years now! I’ve worked across the entire continuum of care from early intervention and schools to the ICU, as well as post-acute rehabilitation, home health, and palliative care. I have also assisted on the ethics board at a local, regional hospital. I am passionate about providing empathetic and individualized care that encompasses the whole person, not just a diagnosis. I have a passion for evaluation and setting up achievable goals for therapy.

I grew up in Paradise and earned my master’s degree at California State University, Chico. I am a Dementia Care Specialist and certified in Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImP). Also, I have received formal training on the Routines Based Interview for a functional approach to early intervention. My extensive experience across settings has given me a unique bird’s-eye view of my role as a speech pathologist and the many ways I can contribute to my clients’ quality of life.

What am I doing when I’m not at work?

I’m a passionate outdoorswoman who loves backpacking, rock climbing, mountaineering, and stand-up paddle boarding. I also love to grow my food.

I am a mother to my awesome daughter, Maya, who wants to grow up to be a speech pathologist just like her mommy! You can usually find us rollerblading in Bidwell Park, geocaching around town, or walking our sweet puppy, Trinity.

Speech-Language Pathologist, Clinical Fellow

Professional Background

I obtained my Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from California State University, Chico, and offer a diverse range of experience and a strong educational background to my clinical practice. One of the highlights of my academic journey was conducting a research study with a peer on literacy intervention, which allowed me to apply evidence-based practices and witness the positive impact on a first grader’s reading skills. I have also had the privilege of working with populations across the lifespan, gaining valuable insights and honing my therapeutic skills. While I appreciate the diversity of the clients I have worked with, I have a
particular soft spot for the early intervention population, recognizing the importance of early support in shaping lifelong communication and feeding skills. With a strong focus on inclusive and neurodiversity-affirming practices, I believe in strengths-based therapy, supporting the unique abilities of each individual to promote their overall well-being and success in communication. It is my privilege to assist individuals in developing their communication and feeding skills, enhancing their quality of life, and fostering meaningful connections.

Why am I in private practice?

The private practice setting allows me to work with clients across the lifespan while providing one-on-one care and personalized treatment plans. My goal as a speech-language pathologist is to create a nurturing and supportive environment that promotes growth, progress, and positive outcomes for my clients and their families.

What am I doing when I’m not at work?

One of my favorite ways to unwind is by spending time outdoors with my dog! We love to go on hikes, walks, and other little adventures in Chico and the surrounding areas. Additionally, I enjoy watching movies, reading, and exploring local restaurants, coffee shops, and other small businesses.

Hello, I’m Jayne Weston

Speech-Language Pathologist, Clinical Fellow

Professional Background

I am a Chico local and I graduated Summa Cum Laude with my Bachelor of Sciences Degree in 2021, and my Master of Sciences Degree in 2023. Throughout my academic and early practicing career, I have experience working in early intervention, preschool-highschool, acute medical care, skilled nursing facilities, and adult rehabilitation. Across settings, I have worked with people aged 1-105, and everyone in between. Communication is my passion, and it is my joy and honor to help support my clients to reach their goals.

Why am I in private practice?

I chose a private practice setting because it would allow me to create personalized treatment plans for my clients. I also craved an environment that would allow me to support clients as long as they required to reach their goals. It is a privilege to be able to support individuals across the lifespan as they work toward goals that will increase their quality of life. One of the great joys of my life is to watch my clients reach their goals!

What am I doing when I’m not at work?

I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy reading, gardening, and quilting. I love solving puzzles and reading mystery stories. When I am not at work, you will likely find me spending time with my cats, whom I love dearly!

Misty has long brown hair and glasses.

Hello, I’m Misty Patterson.

Administrative Assistant

Professional Background

In the initial phase of my healthcare career, I ventured into the field of ophthalmology, with a specific focus on the optical department. During this tenure as the optical director for a remarkable period of 8 years, I had the privilege to cater to diverse communities in the northern region of California. I am thrilled to embark upon a new chapter in my vocational journey with Advantage Therapy Services.

The reason I decided to join Advantage Therapy Services stems from my genuine desire to help patients and witness the notable advancements they make through therapy. In 2021, I received a diagnosis of an autoimmune ailment affecting my spine, which warranted physical therapy. This personal experience further solidified my passion for the profession and my dedication to helping others in their rehabilitative journey.

Outside of my professional life, I cherish quality time spent with my husband, family, friends, and our 13 year old feline companion, Precious. I also enjoy kayaking, camping, participating in community events, and playing disc golf at Bidwell Park. Additionally, I also enjoy taking care of my collection of plants, including an expansive Monstera, various succulents, and an array of fragrant herbs.

Hello, I’m Cassie Silva

Therapy Aide

Professional Background

I graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies. My three fields of emphasis were Kinesiology, Child and Family Development, and Elementary Education. After graduating, I spent some time as an elementary school teacher. As my passion for working with children flourished, I found myself missing the medical aspect of my kinesiology studies. This led me to pursue a career in a field where I can both apply my interest in injury rehabilitation and support children. In the near future, I plan on furthering my education to become a therapist.

Why am I a physical therapy aide?

After moving to Chico, I shadowed Rylan Willis for a brief period of time. What started as an opportunity to explore a new career path quickly became a story of inspiration for me. Seeing Rylan and Haley go above and beyond everyday to help their patients showed me how much I can help individuals of all ages and abilities, too. Although I have more experience working with children, I love being able to care for individuals of all ages as they regain their strength and ability to move after an injury.

I grew up playing sports and being active is part of my lifestyle. That also means I know how hard it is to be injured and not have the ability to participate in the activities you want to. As an aide, I get to assist with patients, and I am always learning new skills that will help me be successful in the future.

What am I doing when I’m not at work?

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my sisters and hanging out with friends. A few of my favorite things to do are grab a latte at local coffee shops, go hiking, and when winter rolls around, I’ll be snowboarding up in Tahoe. I also find some days are best spent curled up on the couch with a good book.

Hannah Hughes has long brown hair and is wearing very brightly colored clothing.

Hello, I’m Hannah Hughes.

Secretary

Professional Background

I have served the Chico area in many facets over the years, primarily working with children and adults with disabilities and in the field of early intervention. I enjoy working with people and families in our community and find that I have a natural ability for it. I began working in after school programs and through that developed a love for supporting people with special needs. I have lived in Chico for over 16 years and received my Bachelor’s degree from Chico State University in Liberal Studies.

Why work in a speech therapy office?

After watching how helpful speech therapy was for my son, who was diagnosed with a sensory disorder and other developmental issues, I immediately knew it was a field I wanted to be in. The ability to use my passion for supporting children and members of the community while being able to continue to grow my family is very important to me. In this role being able to support speech therapists and their clients in this office has been a way for me to use my passion and skill set while being able to do that.

What am I doing when I’m not at work?

I spend most of my time with my children and husband. We love to go hiking and enjoy exploring Bidwell park often. We enjoy finding and hiding painted rocks at the tree farm as well. It doesn’t happen enough but I also love to read when the opportunity presents itself.
