Hello, I’m Haley Willis.

Owner of Advantage Therapy Services

Professional Background

My specialty is speech pathology. I am passionate about treating communication, memory, and swallowing disorders. I work with all ages through an individualized and collaborative approach to therapy.

I am a Chico local and received my Master’s degree from Chico State University. Being a Certified Dementia Care Specialist (CDCS) provider allows me to serve a variety of patients.

Some of my additional training includes Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImP), neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), and surface electromyography (sEMG). I also have experience treating medically complex patients with various etiologies and enjoy leading support groups for Traumatic Brain Injury and Aphasia.

Why am I in Private Practice?

I gained most of my experience working in skilled nursing facilities, inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, and outpatient settings. However, I always felt like something was missing. I wanted to see my patients for more extended periods, especially if they wanted to keep working.

I also wanted to step away from the dynamic of working for a corporation because I wanted to know my patients at a more personal level. As a result, we created Advantage Therapy Services!

It is my pleasure to have the opportunity to personalize each therapy session for my patients and provide a welcoming and caring experience for each patient that comes to our private practice.

Together, we will discover the most effective therapy solutions that are right for you. I’ll work with you to reach your goals and support your family in the process.

What am I doing when I’m not at work?

I spend most of my time caring for my daughter Savannah and spending time with my family. I also enjoy gardening and painting on occasion.

Speech-Language Pathologist

Why am I in private practice?

I entered private practice for two main reasons: First, my deep respect for Haley and Rylan and my complete belief in their dream to create a community resource. Second, because I wanted to experience more autonomy in clinical decision-making. This means that I can work with my clients in a more compassionate setting and make strides toward improvement in diverse and creative ways.

I am so thrilled to show up for you in all the ways I can: as a therapist, a coach, and one of your biggest cheerleaders!

Professional Background

I have been a speech pathologist for over 11 years now! I’ve worked across the entire continuum of care from early intervention and schools to the ICU, as well as post-acute rehabilitation, home health, and palliative care. I have also assisted on the ethics board at a local, regional hospital. I am passionate about providing empathetic and individualized care that encompasses the whole person, not just a diagnosis. I have a passion for evaluation and setting up achievable goals for therapy.

I grew up in Paradise and earned my master’s degree at California State University, Chico. I am a Dementia Care Specialist and certified in Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImP). Also, I have received formal training on the Routines Based Interview for a functional approach to early intervention. My extensive experience across settings has given me a unique bird’s-eye view of my role as a speech pathologist and the many ways I can contribute to my clients’ quality of life.

What am I doing when I’m not at work?

I’m a passionate outdoorswoman who loves backpacking, rock climbing, mountaineering, and stand-up paddle boarding. I also love to grow my food.

I am a mother to my awesome daughter, Maya, who wants to grow up to be a speech pathologist just like her mommy! You can usually find us rollerblading in Bidwell Park, geocaching around town, or walking our sweet puppy, Trinity.

Speech-Language Pathologist

Professional Background

Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders from California State University, Chico. Since then, my career has been centered in private practice, working with children from ages 1 to 17.

While in my career, I’ve gained experience in early intervention, speech sound and language disorders, and supporting children with Autism. I’m committed to providing neurodiversity-affirming care and my approach is rooted in treating the whole child—developing personalized plans that build on each individual’s strengths and support their communication development.

Why am I in a private practice?

I chose private practice because it allows me to build meaningful relationships with the families I serve. In this setting, I can create a space where trust naturally develops between the child, their family, and myself as the therapist. I believe this connection is the foundation of effective therapy—and there’s truly nothing more rewarding than witnessing the progress a child makes and knowing the lasting impact that it has on their daily life.

What am I doing when I’m not at work?

In my free time, I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes, being outside, and doing jigsaw puzzles.

Administrative Assistant

Professional Background

In the initial phase of my healthcare career, I ventured into the field of ophthalmology, with a specific focus on the optical department. During this tenure as the optical director for a remarkable period of 8 years, I had the privilege to cater to diverse communities in the northern region of California. I am thrilled to embark upon a new chapter in my vocational journey with Advantage Therapy Services.

The reason I decided to join Advantage Therapy Services stems from my genuine desire to help patients and witness the notable advancements they make through therapy. In 2021, I received a diagnosis of an autoimmune ailment affecting my spine, which warranted physical therapy. This personal experience further solidified my passion for the profession and my dedication to helping others in their rehabilitative journey.

Outside of my professional life, I cherish quality time spent with my husband, family, friends, and our 13 year old feline companion, Precious. I also enjoy kayaking, camping, participating in community events, and playing disc golf at Bidwell Park. Additionally, I also enjoy taking care of my collection of plants, including an expansive Monstera, various succulents, and an array of fragrant herbs.
